MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel presently gain from a 20p differential however that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been consulting with the UK sustainable .

Mr George said "a number of small services in Cornwall currently generate income from utilized cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this sort of industry going it does require just a bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
